  • the Thracian Tomb in Kazanlak, a historical monument, inscribed in UNESCO's World Heritage List
  • the Shipka Monument, erected on Shipka peak in Stara Planina Mountain
  • the Holy Nativity Church in Shipka village
  • the Maglij Monastery "St. Nikolay the Thaumaturge", founded in the 12th century
  • the House-museum of Peyo Yavorov in the town of Chirpan

Kazanlak is only 36 km north of Stara Zagora, Maglij - 30 km, Chirpan - 40 km to the west.

The distances from Stara Zagora to the Thracian rock sanctuary Perperikon (to the south) and the Bulgarian Medieval capital Veliko Tarnovo (to the north) are longer - 120 km. The picturesque mountain town Tryavna or the open-air Ethnographic Museum Etara, near Gabrovo, are 80 km to the north. The beautiful mountain towns of Kalofer, Karlovo and Sopot can be reached only in an hour and half, as well as Sliven and the Natural Park "Sinite Kamani" (The Blue Stones). The distance to the well-known winter ski resorts Pamporovo and Chepelare in the Rhodope Mountain is about 2.5 hours; it takes less time to drive to the Stara Planina Mountain ski runs like Buzlidzha, Uzana or Sinite Kamani.
